Seller Handbook

Welcome to JustSoldIt.ie — Ireland's dedicated marketplace for independent sellers. Whether you're a maker, collector, vintage dealer, or small business, this handbook will walk you through everything from opening your shop to making your first sale.

Who can sell on JustSoldIt.ie?

Any individual or business based in Ireland (or selling to Irish customers) is welcome to apply. You must be:

• 18 years or older
• Legally entitled to sell the items you list
• Able to fulfil orders within your stated dispatch timeframe
• In possession of a valid Irish bank account or PayPal for payouts

Applying to sell

Submit your application via the Become a Vendor page. Our team reviews every application within 2 working days. You'll receive an approval email with your login credentials once accepted.

Your shop page is the first thing buyers see when they click your seller name. A complete, professional profile builds trust and drives sales.

Shop name

Choose a name that reflects your brand. It must be unique on the platform and contain no trademark violations. You can update it once per 90-day period.

Shop banner & logo

Upload a banner image (1200 × 300 px recommended) and a square logo (400 × 400 px minimum). Use high-resolution images — blurry photos reduce buyer confidence.

Shop announcement

Use the announcement field to share any important updates — dispatch delays, upcoming sales, or seasonal closures. Buyers see this at the top of your shop page.

Policies

Set clear policies covering returns, exchanges, and custom orders. Sellers who display transparent policies receive 40% fewer disputes.

Your product listings are your virtual shop window. Great listings combine accurate descriptions, quality photos, and competitive pricing.

Photos

• Upload a minimum of 3 photos per listing (up to 10)
• Use natural light where possible; avoid heavy filters
• Include at least one photo on a neutral background
• Show scale — include a hand, coin, or ruler in one photo
• Recommended size: 2000 × 2000 px, square crop

Titles & descriptions

Write titles that describe the item clearly — include material, colour, size, and occasion where relevant. Descriptions should answer the questions a buyer can't ask in person: dimensions, care instructions, materials, and any imperfections.

Categories & tags

Select the most specific category available, then add up to 15 tags. Good tags include synonyms, occasions (e.g. "birthday gift"), and material names. Tags are used by our search engine to match your listings to buyer queries.

Private sellers pay a one-off fee for each item listed. Stores pay a monthly plan that includes listings up to the plan limit. Featured placement is an optional one-off fee. Prices are inclusive of VAT.

JustSoldIt does not charge commission on sales. Listing and Store payments are processed securely through Stripe. Founder Member badges remain, but do not change the prices.

Listing boosts (optional)

Featured placement adds visibility in search results and category pages. It costs €5 per item and is paid as a one-off add-on in the seller dashboard.

How buyers pay

Buyers pay via Stripe at checkout. We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Payment is captured immediately on purchase.

When you get paid

Payouts are released 7 days after the order is marked as dispatched, to allow time for buyer disputes. Funds are transferred to your registered bank account every Monday. Minimum payout threshold is €10.

Refunds & disputes

If a buyer opens a dispute, the relevant order amount is held until the case is resolved. Refunds issued to buyers are deducted from your next payout. See our Returns Policy for full details.

VAT & tax

JustSoldIt.ie does not collect or remit VAT on your behalf. You are responsible for complying with Irish Revenue requirements. If your annual turnover exceeds the VAT registration threshold (€42,500 for goods), you must register and charge VAT accordingly. We recommend consulting an accountant.

Setting shipping rates

You set your own shipping rates and carriers. We recommend offering free shipping on orders over a threshold (e.g. €50) — listings with free shipping convert at significantly higher rates.

Dispatch timeframes

Set a realistic dispatch timeframe on each listing — this is the number of business days from purchase to when you post the item. Common options are 1–3 days, 3–5 days, or 1–2 weeks for made-to-order items.

• Always dispatch within your stated timeframe
• Mark the order as dispatched in your dashboard as soon as it's posted
• Add tracking numbers where available — this protects you against lost-item claims

Recommended carriers

An Post, DPD Ireland, and DHL Express are the most commonly used carriers among our sellers. An Post's online label service offers competitive rates for parcels up to 20kg.

Excellent customer service is the single biggest driver of repeat purchases and five-star reviews on JustSoldIt.ie.

Responding to messages

Aim to reply to all buyer messages within 24 hours on business days. Sellers with a response rate below 80% may have their listings deprioritised in search results.

Handling returns

You must honour your stated return policy. If you offer returns, buyers have 14 days from delivery to initiate one under Irish consumer law. For faulty or not-as-described items, buyers are entitled to a remedy regardless of your returns policy.

Reviews

Buyers can leave a review after delivery. You may respond publicly to any review. Never offer incentives in exchange for positive reviews — this violates our policies and EU consumer law.

JustSoldIt.ie monitors seller performance to maintain a high-quality marketplace. Your account is evaluated on:

Sellers who fall below these benchmarks for two consecutive months will receive a warning. Continued underperformance may result in temporary suspension of listings while the issue is resolved.

Account suspension

Accounts may be suspended immediately for: sale of prohibited items, repeated policy violations, fraudulent activity, or chargeback rates exceeding 2%. Suspended sellers may appeal within 30 days by contacting info@justsoldit.ie.
